A New Trend: Celery Juice

Updated: Jan 21, 2019

While reading Medical Medium: Thyroid Healing, I discovered celery juice.. I learned a lot Anthony William's book, so I then decided to conduct further research on the benefits of drinking celery juice and here's a summary of the information that I found.

A great way to start your day is to drink at least 16 oz. of water upon awakening and follow with 8-16 oz. of fresh celery juice. After consumption, it’s best to wait 10-15 minutes before eating so your body can soak up all of the nutrients. Incorporating celery juice into your morning routine is beneficial for many reasons..

When we wake up in the morning, our bodies experience a spike in cortisol levels. Cortisol is the hormone that helps our bodies respond to stress – too much of it can cause negative side effects such as fatigue and weight gain. It’s detrimental for our bodies to drink anything acidic such as coffee within 1-2 hours of awakening because it increases cortisol levels even more, so it’s best to feed our cells with an alkalizing substance such as celery juice.

Celery juice is also great first thing in the morning because it helps to balance pH levels and hormones. It also helps rid your body of toxins and heal your gut because it starves yeast, bacteria, and even parasites. It also helps raise levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach which helps with digestion of foods. In addition, celery juice aids in bowel movements, reduces inflammation, regulates body temperature, helps with elimination of toxins through the kidneys, regulates thyroid function, lowers blood pressure, combats cancer, calms the nervous system, and also helps curb cravings for sweet and rich foods. Celery juice is especially great for those who exercise frequently as it contains electrolytes and helps rehydrate cells. The stems contain an excellent source of vitamins B, vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, folate, calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium, and phosphorus. And don’t forget to include the leaves in your juice as they contain lots of vitamin A.

Side note: If you don't own a juicer and don't want to spend the money at your local juice shop, you can simply blend the celery with a little bit of water in a blender and strain out the juice using a nut milk bag! (They're only $10 on amazon)

I hope you decide to add this to your morning routine!

Take care,

Kylie
